Dancing Stories

We are currently working on “Dancing Stories”, an exciting project which will see us performing Vivaldi’s Gloria at Chester Cathedral on Tuesday 11th July 2017, accompanied by Chester Youth Symphony Orchestra. The event is being organised in collaboration with Home Grown Dance Theatre and Theatre in the Quarter to celebrate 40 Years of Dance in Cheshire.

We are keen to expand our choir for this collaborative event and would like to invite experienced local choral singers to swell our numbers as a ‘massed choir’ for this event and make it a superb performance to remember.

We will be performing a new carol “Sleep, my Jesu” at this concert which was recently composed by Jamie Hall as part of his project “Dancing Day” especially to support Macmillan Cancer as part of #ChoirsAgainstCancer. Three years of song

WHH_4690-2We have enjoyed three years of singing together and during that time have gone from strength to strength. Our summer concert celebration this year had a moon theme to the programme and we were delighted to welcome Huntington Primary School Choir to take part in our evening of music and poetry.

Over the Moon

We were delighted to be able to perform our “Over the Moon” summer concert programme on Saturday night. The audience enjoyed a blend of musical genre from a capella spirituals to pop and jazz. We were supported by a super performance from Huntington Primary School Choir. The singing was interspersed with moon-themed poetry, some of which had been specially commissioned for the event!

Your concert was really good, and we were so glad we could be there.
Super arrangements and harmonies, lots of feeling and confidence in the singing, and a sense of intimacy and togetherness throughout it all.
Loved the African songs especially.   Walking and singing was so evocative……..

Singing for Fun with Matt Baker

Saturday 16th January, 2016
We were treated to a wonderful workshop today at Caldy Valley Church presented by Matt Baker. Elaine writes,

I have just returned from the Matt Baker workshop at Caldy Valley, having had the most wonderful afternoon. The hall was packed with faces old and new, all enjoying the singing experience. As Tom said,’ It may have been cold and miserable outside, but inside it was warm and glowing!’ Thanks to everyone who helped to make the afternoon so successful.

Singing for Santa

In the forest with SantasWe had a great time this morning singing in Delamere Forest for over 300 Santas.
Elaine, one of our choir members, writes:

Thank you to the dozen or so stalwarts who turned up to the Delamere Santa Dash this morning. I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many Santas in one place. It may have been raining, but there was plenty of Christmas spirit (some of it in the form of mulled wine) and loads of enthusiasm! Ably led by Will, we sang an impressive number of songs and carols in 2 sets, and enjoyed a coffee together in the cafe. (If you haven’t been yet, I can recommend it …the cakes and coffee were wonderful). Happy Christmas and see you on 5th Jan!

Which sums it up quite nicely really. The enforced a cappella worked out well when the generator refused to power our piano. Thanks to our pianist, Jeremy, for stepping in and doubling the bass section!

Gothic singing workshop

Saturday 31st October, 2015
Ellie the pumpkinWe enjoyed a thrilling, spooky Hallowe’en themed Gothic singing workshop led by Catherine Harrison. The song choices were right on the mark. One of the choir members commented later that of the songs we did in the workshop, three were featured later that evening on “Strictly Come Dancing”. The workshop attracted quite a wide age range with the youngest being only 10 months old. Ellie even came along in fancy dress.
